CONNOISSEUR Magazine
CONNOISSEUR Magazine is a Dayton, Ohio-based Arts and Culture publication
CONNOISSEUR began in 2016 when Dave Scott, Isaac Williams, and Sydney Joslin-Knapp created a zine of artists, musicians, and performers who were highlighted at a local multi-disciplinary art show. Social media is where many young creatives engage with each other’s work, and the zine was an attempt to bring some tangibility to the experience. Dave Scott and Sydney carried on with CONNOISSEUR’s second issue in 2018, which branched out to include a greater range of artists, small business owners, and creative people in the Dayton community. CONNOISSEUR’s third issue is in the works.

“ALWAYS TAKING A SIMPLISTIC APPROACH TO WORK, DAVE IS A MINIMALIST AT HEART. BREAKING DOWN ART HISTORY AND STUDYING COLOR THEROY, HE HAS BEEN ABLE TO CREATE HIS OWN STYLE. USING COLOR TO EXPRESS EMOTION, DAVE STRIVES CONNECT WITH HIS AUDIENCE THROUGH PURPOSEFUL CREATIONS."
“‘ WITH MY ART, I DONT KNOW ANYMORE THAN WHAT I DONT KNOW. AND I DONT FEAR REVEALING MY MINDSET, I FEAR LOSING THE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN ME AND A PERSON THAT I LOVE. IT HURTS MORE NOT TO BE ABLE TO TALK ABOUT THINGS AND HAVING AN OPEN DIALOGUE THAN IT DOES TO BE JUDGED OR RIDICULED FOR THE WAY YOU THINK. I COULD CARELESS WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT MY MINDSET, BUT IF WE CANT ACKNOWLEDGE EACH OTHERS THOUGHT PROCESSES ITS SIMILAR TO DEATH’”
